March Playlist | What I've Been Listening To

I've been listening to quite a variety of different things over the past month, so I thought I'd give you a little breakdown of my favourite songs from March...

January Playlist | What I've Been Listening To

Hozier, Hozier, Hozier... Can we just have a moment of appreciation for these lyrics?

Take Me to Church | Hozier
My church offers no absolutes,
she tells me, "worship in the bedroom."
The only heaven I'll be sent to
is when I'm alone with you.

Work Song | Hozier
There's nothing sweeter than my baby,
I never want once from the cherry tree.
Cause my baby's sweet as can be,
She gives me toothaches just from kissing me.

Cherry Wine | Hozier
Her fight and fury is fiery
Oh but she loves, like sleep to the freezing.
Sweet and right and merciful,
I'm all but washed, in the tide of her breathing

From Eden | Hozier
Honey, you're familiar, like my mirror years ago
Idealism sits in prison, chivalry fell on it's sword
Innocence died screaming, honey, ask me I should know
I slithered here from Eden just to sit outside your door

The Winemaker's Love Song | Tyler Lyle
If you're reborn in a new life
And some gives you red wine,
Does it taste familiar
But you don't know how to say why?

I've also been listening to the soundtrack from 'The Theory of Everything' recently. It's just so beautiful and so calm and relaxing as just background noise while I'm working. I think my favourite tracks are 'The Theory of Everything', 'The Whirling Ways of Stars That Pass', 'Forces of Attraction' and 'Cambridge, 1963'.

A few other tunes I've been enjoying from this month:

The gal in the photo above is Britt who's a very good friend of mine and also one of my very favourite people. She has a great blog you can read here!

October Playlist | What I've Been Listening To

Sam Smith is also currently my artist of choice, especially for when I'm cooking because he's just so chilllll

The photo above was taken by my love friend Mae (Pastel Bambi) who's also a blogger and youtuber as well as a very talented photographer. You may have already heard of but if not here's where you can find her:

Exam Stress Be Gone! | What I've Been Listening To

All images credited to their rightful owners - no copyright infringement intended

In case I haven't said it enough in recent posts- it's exam time, I'm tired, bored, stressed and a little emotional. I'm also not sure if any of you can relate but normally during exam season my life just starts falling apart around me; right now my laundry is just piling up, my plants are dying, my room is a tip and I've eaten probably close to 3 times my (original) weight in junk food... BUT it's ok, because music is my friend, and if your life is any bit as chaotic as mine is right now and exam blues are just getting you down and you like happy, folky tunes I've got a few recommendations to share with you, either to listen to while you study or just as a little pick-me-up in between times!

What I have been listening to as of late:

For study:
Put on Cologne | Donovan Woods

Won't Come Back | Donovan Woods

No Time Has Passed | Donovan Woods

Another Story | The Head and the Heart

Hey Ya | Obadiah Parker (Outkast cover)

Kiss the Grass | The Paper Kites

My Father's Father | The Civil Wars

For happiness:
Young | Air Review

Swim Club | The Cave Singers

I Miss You | 5 Seconds of Summer (Blink 182 cover)

And She Was | The Twin Forks

As always, I hope you're all doing very well and that summer has been good to you so far!

Spring Playlist | What I've Been Listening To

All images credited to their rightful owners - no copyright infringement intended

As someone who thoroughly enjoys receiving music recommendations I thought I would share with you some of the songs I've been appreciating recently! I listen to a lot of folky-/acoustic-y music so if that is to your taste you might like some of these tunes:

Paint | The Paper Kites
Hello My Old Heart | The Oh Hello's
Ghost | Jeremy Messersmith
Riptide | Vance Joy
Galway Girl | Steve Earl
Like Ships Need the Sea | Emily Hearn
Keep Your Head Up | Ben Howard
Ghosts | Laura Marling
Back To You | Twin Forks
Send Me On My Way | Rusted Root

Also, I doubt this will a new discovery for many but I've recently really been loving the site and mobile app '8tracks' which was introduced to me by my lovely friend Izi. Basically you can scour through thousands of different playlists by searching for tags (I frequently search for 'happy + folk) and it's a great new way of finding new music.

You can follow me on '8tracks' here :)
